My Approach, Qualification and Conditions
Personal ApproachBroadly speaking my training is Person Centred, however I do not necessarily adhere to one-way of doing things, and I have developed a style which is both relaxed and interactive. I have adopted techniques from many schools of counselling as well as many writers and teachers in this field. I believe deeply in empowering the individual to 'do it for themselves' and to achieve this I employ motivational techniques, deep empathic listening, reflecting and analysis. Frequently I recommend books or suggest exercises to do at home, as part of the belief that you can do it for your self.
Areas of Specialisation While I am trained in general counselling, over the years I have developed my skills in the following areas: Sexual Abuse (both individual and organised), Depression, Bereavement, Relationship Difficulties, Addiction, D.I.D., Anger Management and Personal Development. Further more I have also worked with self-harm and eating disorders more over I am now able to provide the W.H.Y. Programme.

FEES
Special offer a 30 minute phone session is available free!A 50 minute session is chargeable at £70, the initial session lasts up to 90 minutes at no extra cost.
I also offer NLP as a Master Practitioner; charges for this service relate to the duration of treatment and are worked out at the time of initial consultation.
Payments will be expected at the end of each session, I accept cash, cheques or bank transfers. You can book and pay in advance for any number of sessions; for 4 sessions I will give you an extra half a session free and 10 will get you 2 free sessions.
Fees are reviewed annually.
All sessions must be paid for, including missed sessions, unless 1 weeks notice is given. Cancellations sent by text message are not accepted due to the unreliable nature of text messaging.
Where possible, and within a week of the cancellation, sessions can be re-arranged; however if this not possible then payment will be required.
ATTENDANCE & BREAKS
In order to maximize the effectiveness of therapeutic work, regularity and continuity is necessary. Therefore, I avoid the need to cancel or re-arrange sessions, and would only do so in exceptional circumstances, a similar commitment is expected from clients.
Normally sessions are 50 minutes long and begin at the appointed time. It is not usually possible to extend sessions in the case of late arrival.
I take 3 breaks a year, usually at Christmas, Spring and Summer. Notice of these breaks will be given.
NOTICE OF TERMINATION
Generally speaking the ending of therapy is best done in a planned and gradual way by decreasing the frequency of the sessions. Where that is not possible a weeks notice is required or payment in lieu thereof.
Where therapy has been on going for longer than a year, then one weeks notice per year of therapy is expected.
Should I need to end a piece of therapy, I will seek to negotiate that ending and give a similarly appropriate period of notice.
SUPPORT SERVICES
As part of my service I include telephone and email support, these are free for the first 15 minutes of a call and for a simple one off email response. Beyond this, however charges are as follows: £30 per half hour telephone call and £8 per email.
